USA Dictionary Project

The Rotary Club of Wichita participates in the USA Dictionary Project annually, which allows us to provide a hardback Scholastic Dictionary to each third grader in our local Title I schools in School District 259. This year we will distribute over 2,700 dictionaries.

In addition to lunch you will learn about how structural engineers are involved in the creative process of building design and construction. Dudley Williams & Associates is one of the leading structural engineering design firms in the region. Founded in 1952, the firms design portfolio includes many of Wichita's most iconic structures. Century II, Mid-America All-Indian Center, City of Wichita Administration Building, Wesley Medical Center East Tower, Epic Center, Exploration Place, Koch Arena Expansion, Koch Industries Expansion, and many others are all DWA projects. Recent projects include the new Wichita Advanced Learning Library, Mark Arts, and the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport Terminal facility as well as Northeast Magnet and Southeast High Schools.

Business Fireside Luncheon at Learn IT Digital Skills Classroom hosted by Matt Johnson from noon to 1 o'clock on Monday, July 30, 2018

You are invited to a business fireside luncheon meeting at the Learn IT Digital Skills Classroom Mobile Unit by Matt Johnson from noon to 1 o'clock on Monday, July 30, 2018. In addition to lunch, you will see firsthand the work that Goodwill is doing through a partnership with Google to impact the local economy through digital skills training. The Learn IT Digital Skills Classroom Mobile Unit will be located at 115 S. Handley (-13) at the corner of Texas and Handley Streets in Delano. The unit features ten computer stations, a full library of Google-based resources, virtual classroom technology and individual coaching to ensure all participants learn professional-grade digital literacy skills. Aimed at adults, the lab will work with community agencies before arriving at a given location. Once there, participants will learn on-site and be given online access to continue their learning, utilizing referral services in the area such as public libraries, local schools/colleges and workforce centers.

Business Fireside Luncheon at The Hive hosted by Christina House from noon to 1 o'clock on Monday, July 30, 2018

You are invited to a business fireside luncheon at The Hive, located at 200 N. Broadway, Suite 110, is a co-working and community space where members become Healthy, Inspired, and Empowered. Enjoy lunch catered by The Kitchen followed by a presentation by The Hive's founder, Andrea Stang, and co-working member Rotarian Christina House of Galileo Group. Andrea will discuss how in addition to co-working memberships, The Hive offers lunch and learns, happy hour socials/networking events, and workshops/classes as well as access to on-site yoga, professional chair massages, and chiropractic services. Christina will give you a quick overview of why she chose to work from The Hive as well as what she does, what coaching is and is not, and how she works with teams for organizational effectiveness. Guided tours will be available of the building's Audio/Video Room, Yoga space, one-on-one meeting rooms, the conference room, and more.
