The Wichita Rotary Charitable Fund
The Wichita Rotary Charitable Fund (WRCF), a 501 (c) (3), was established in 1983 by 11 Rotary Club of Wichita past presidents to support our community service efforts. Annual income from the endowment and voluntary contributions from our members allow the WRCF to provide significant monetary support that is used for a variety of projects. Among those projects is the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program, which promotes reading among school-age children by providing each student in our participating schools 3 books during the school year. Since 1987, Rotary Club 30 and its members have expanded this program to include 18 Wichita Title 1 schools, Child Start and 3 early childhood centers. We provide more than 30,000 books each year to approximately 10,000 area school children. Almost one-half of our members volunteer their time each year during book distribution days by reading to students, thereby encouraging a lifelong passion for reading.
Other projects funded through the WRCF include Habitat for Humanity, a substantial donation each year for our 2011 Centennial Project, Scholastic Children's Dictionaries for 3rd grade students in USD 259, and many other worthwhile club and community projects.
2009 Habitat House Scholastic Children's Dictionaries We completely fund a house every are given each year to every 3rd grade other year - made possible by our student - made possible by our donations to the WRCF donations to the WRCF. This project encompasses 4,000 dictionaries each year
